Data Retention Policy

Effective date: July 17, 2026

How BLYQUE decides what data to keep, for how long, and when it gets deleted.

1. Purpose

This policy explains how BLYQUE retains, archives, deletes, and protects the information processed on our platform. It sets out the principles we follow — it isn't a substitute for the specific retention schedules our engineering and legal teams maintain internally.

2. Categories of data

Retention practices differ depending on the type of information involved. Account details, profile data, uploaded content, system logs, backups, moderation records, support requests, and security records are each handled according to their own purpose, sensitivity, and legal requirements.

3. Retention principles

We retain data only for legitimate business purposes — legal compliance, security, dispute resolution, and the operation of the service. Where we do retain records, we apply appropriate security controls, restrict access to what's retained, and document retention decisions where appropriate.

4. User account data

Account information is retained for as long as your account stays active, and for a limited period afterward where retention is required by law or needed to resolve an open issue (such as a fraud investigation or legal hold).

5. Logs and security records

Operational and security logs may be retained for fraud prevention, diagnostics, auditing, and incident response. These are typically kept for a shorter, defined window unless tied to an active investigation.

6. Backup data

Backups may temporarily retain information that has already been deleted from live systems, until the backup is rotated out or securely destroyed. This is a normal consequence of how backup systems work, not an attempt to circumvent a deletion request.

Where data is subject to a legal obligation, investigation, or court order, we may preserve it beyond our standard retention periods for as long as the hold applies.

8. Your requests

You can request deletion of, or access to, your eligible personal information in accordance with applicable law. Some data may be retained despite a deletion request where we have a legal obligation, a legitimate security interest, or an unresolved dispute that requires it.

9. Secure deletion

When retention is no longer necessary, we aim to securely delete or anonymize the data rather than leave it sitting in our systems indefinitely.

10. Policy updates

We may revise this policy as our legal, operational, or technical requirements evolve. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page.
